To start off this establishment has been around for 50+ years... yes it WAS a bakery, but now it's strictly a taco/plate restaurant! Great tacos, great tortillas, better than the hyped up spots like Laredo on Washington, little to no crowd or line... call ahead for orders is ideal if you're on the run. Nice and chill neighborhood spot in COTTAGE GROVE! Carne guisada is my go to.

Great place! I drive from Cypress to eat here! The place is a hidden gem in the Houston Cottage Grove area. The only thing is you have to bring cash. There is no debit card reader so plan ahead.

Don't let other comments about the appearance of this place steer you away. It's a family run hole in the wall joint. It's not trendy or modern, it's just classic Tex Mexican tacos, rice and beans. If you want trendy, you can get your gringo tacos somewhere else. I grew up eating my south Texas Mexican abuelas food and La India gets it right. Yes, it is cash only, which yes, means I've literally dug through my car to find loose change so I didn't have to go to an ATM. I love this joint and try to make it back whenever I'm back in Houston.

I've been going to this place for 12 years! The best homemade tacos ever!!! It's family owned and they're the nicest people. They always take care of their guest no matter what the race ( saw a previous post where a guy said "they don't like white ppl" this is false. The building is it's original and vintage style. Love this place!
